Chizu Matsubara

Chizu Matsubara, Ph.D., is a scholar specializing in second language acquisition, with a particular focus on the roles of culture and identity in language learning. Her research examines how learners’ cultural backgrounds and evolving identities influence and are influenced by the process of acquiring a second language. Drawing on interdisciplinary frameworks, her work contributes to a deeper understanding of language learning as a socially and culturally situated practice.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Matsubara enjoys hiking and playing golf, and she maintains a strong personal interest in animal welfare.
